Mt. Bental offers a fantastic panoramic view of the Golan and Mt. Hermon (as well as Syria and Lebanon) on a clear day. Rising to a height of 1,165 meters above sea level, Mt. Bental is a dormant volcano that is part of the Golan Heights volcanic line – a chain of volcanoes that stretches along the border between Israel and Syria.
During the period of the volcanic eruptions in the Golan, a violent eruption carried the western slope of the mountain down towards the west, where Kibbutz Merom Golan is located today. On the peak of the mountain is a café, and for the adventurous, there are marked hiking paths that lead down the mountain to scenic routes.
