Ein Shoko Spring

Description: The Ein Shoko spring is located in the southern Golan, and features a round cement pool with an incredible view of Lake Kinneret and the mountains of the Galilee. You can see from Mt. Tavor and the Yavne’el Valley in the south, all the way to Mt. Meron and the Hula Valley in the north. In the past, this spring was called “Ein e-Tina” (Arabic for “the spring of the fig tree”). After IDF soldier Matan Gadri fell in battle in Hevron on June 8^th, 2003, his friends in nearby Kibbutz Mevo Hama and his Nachal Recon Unit decided to rename the spring in his memory. Matan’s nickname was “Shoko.”

Among the foliage that surrounds the pool, there are also tables and benches, as well as signs that tell Matan’s life story.

Arrival: On Road 98, 7 kilometers south of the main entrance to Kibbutz Mevo Hama, there is a sign that marks a road going west to the Mevo Hama cemetery and to Ein Shoko. Turn there and drive until you reach a parking area next to the kibbutz cemetery. Park, and make the steep descent (marked by signs) to the spring.
