General Background: The IDF 7th Armored Brigade was founded immediately after the establishment of the State of Israel, and since then has participated in all of Israel’s wars. Among their accomplishments is the Latrun Battle and the Burma Road Breakthrough in the War of Independence. The unit fought in Sinai in the 1956 Kadesh Operation, the 1967 Six-Day War, and they played a major role in defending the Golan Heights in the 1973 Yom Kippur War.
About the Memorial: At the entrance to the memorial site is a cement wall with red letters displaying the Biblical verse (Isaiah 66,15) “It shall come in fire, and its chariots shall be like a storm.” On the site’s lower level is a display of tanks and heavy weaponry. The building and the memorial are designed in the spirit of the unit’s insignia and the number 7, and they are meant to inspire patriotism and dedication to the brigade.
